Hello! So this is my first post on this blog and a lot of thought has gone into which book I should review first. So I chose a book that really made me think about how chance affects the events of our lives.

The boy follows the story of Jack, who is obsessed with luck, and Jess, a singer who changes Jack’s life. They were bought together through chance, but luck doesn't last forever.

As their chance and choices unravel the stakes are raised higher and higher, and the danger of Jack’s game becomes apparent. Each chapter two possibilities are presented and the characters flip a coin to decide their fate. But in the final chapter, as life hangs in the balance, it is the reader who decides the fate of the characters with, you guessed it, a flip of the coin.

This book explores the concept of Schrodinger's cat, exploring whether something can be both dead and alive because you don’t know the outcome. In this story, Jack is the cat and as the story goes on we see more that he has really handed his life over to luck due to several unfortunate events. But you’ll just have to read it to find out more!

This book is worthy of a place on book shelves because it purely makes you think about how every tiny detail could be affecting your fate (if you believe in that) and how your decisions could affect other people.  I recommend this book to any one, wanting something a little different to other books out there for young adults.
